Transition Chester was formed in 2008 following the concern of a number of residents about the climate change crisis becoming increasingly apparent.
It is part of an international movement that has been growing since 2005. It is about communities stepping up to address the big challenges they face of dwindling resources, climate change and increasing prices of energy by starting local.
Since it began the group has been involved in a number of initiatives and activities which have, at their heart, the growth of community connections and support for sustainable, low carbon ways of working and living.
Current Working Groups of Transition Chester include:
- Incredible Edibles
- Morsbags Makeries
- Community Apple Pressings
- Group purchase of bulk wholefoods & household products
- Sustainability Walks
- Narrows Park Community Group
- Friends of Newton Hollows
- Chester Community Energy (Now a freestanding separate company)
You can view the ‘Working Group Protcol’ which outlines how each group relates to the overall structure of Transition Chester by following this link.
