Transition Chester aims to develop useful and inspiring projects that fulfil the dual objectives of supporting the reduction of carbon emissions and development of community life.
We do this by forming sub-groups in which the members of Transition Chester are interested and want to contribute to because they enjoy, and are passionate about, a particular subject or project.
These subgroups form by mutual consent and grow organically when there is sufficient enthusiasm, energy and time within the group to drive a project forward.
At the moment, there are six functioning sub-groups under the Transition umbrella:
- Incredible Edible – Elmwood Avenue
- Friends of Newton Hollows
- Narrows Community Park Group
- Friends of Dickson’s Field
- Friends of Alexandra Park Hoole
- Mickle Trafford Green Spaces Group
In addition there are three initiatives run by individual members:
- Loan of Apple Press and Community Apple Pressings and
- A Suma bulk buying group – which helps to raise funds for Transition Chester.
- Sustainability Walks
And finally, an initiative that originated with Transition Chester but is now operating as a freestanding Community energy Company :
We are always looking for people to join us so if you are interested in any of our group projects please come to a meeting or get in touch using the contact page
