The Narrows Wildlife Connections Group was formed in 2019 to work with Cheshire West and Chester Council to improve the biodiversity of the Narrows Park in Hoole and to improve the area through planting, pruning and basic maintenance.
Volunteers from the surrounding area are involved in this work and they have now successfully developed a wild flower meadow and other areas planted with bulbs to attarct insects.

Funding awarded!
In 2022 The Narrows Wildlife Connections Group was succesful in obtaining funding from the players of the People’s Postcode Lottery to build and install planters and signage in the park to develop the ‘edibles’ area.
Narrows Community Herb and Edibles Planters
In March 2022, the planters arrived as ‘flatpack’ kits and volunteers assembled them and filled them with peat-free compost. The planters are made from British recycled plastic. They also planted up a variety of herbs and other edibles for people to taste and enjoy.
