We have had a request from Margaret Warren who is the coordinator of a project on food waste run by Keep Britain Tidy, in partnership with Cheshire East and Cheshire West and Chester Councils. Margaret would like to train more volunteers who will help for the remaining time of the project which ends in March 2017. The last paragraph of her email is reproduced below.
“We ask for no set hours from our volunteers and although an event may run for a certain number of hours, the volunteers are not expected to be present for the entire event, only the hours they wish to be there. Any volunteers joining our project would be of great assistance to us however, there are also benefits to the volunteers. Full training will be provided in the deliverance of our campaigns i.e. volunteers will gain knowledge of reducing food waste and home composting which can be used with other projects, and they will gain knowledge and experience of productive engagement with a wide variety of people in a variety of settings. If you are looking for training for your volunteers in engagement and functioning of events then this is a great opportunity. Volunteers will also receive a uniform, full coverage of expenses, invitations to social events and the end of project ceremony and can earn rewards with us as they volunteer such as days out in Cheshire, gift vouchers etc. Our current volunteers also really enjoy the project! They enjoy helping people and the environment, getting out and talking to people and having the opportunity to be part of events happening all over Cheshire.”
